• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

HT1250 Programming Issue - UPDATED!!!!

I have a BRAND New HT1250 VHF and the Verison 6 CPS and when I go to read the codeplug from the radio, it will not open the codeplug. It gives me a message stating that there is a MDC Group Block and it doesn't open the codeplug. I will post the exact message when I get home from work, but if anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,

Casey

During the last update, the codeplug may have been interupted enough during the programming mode and corupted the MDC call.

If you have an old codeplug saved you can try writing it to the radio then try to read it.

If.....

If someone shut the computer down or the battery in the rib box went dead during the writing process TO the radio, you'r done.

It has to go back to the factory for repairs.

Same way with the CDM mobiles.

Our radio shop guys apparently had a new tech learning the Moto programming. He screwed up BIG TIME!!!

When the PC is writing to the radio, there is a beep tone toward the end of the writing.

HOWEVER, that does NOT mean that it is DONE writing. IF for some reason you STOP, UNPLUG, UNHOOK or otherwise bother the programming cable BEFORE you get the SECOND beep which is a two-tone beep, it is toast!!!! The radio HAS to go back for factory repairs....

Thanks for all of the suggestions, but now i am sort of thinking that it is not a software issue. What I think it is, is that the radio has ALOT of MDC1200 ID numbers programmed into it (222 of them). I think it is having trouble reading all of them at once (I could be wrong) but that's what it seems like. I don't want to overwrite the codeplug YET, until I get all of the ID numbers for my county Units, once I get the ID numbers for the aliases, I'll overwrite the codeplug to see if that works.

Thanks again for the information.
