• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

That means the software you have will not work on that radio. You need to HEX edit the CPS to allow that region radio to work with current CPS

How do I do that. Also I was told that the "fd" at the end of the model refers to federal. Which means I need government software.

Negative dont need a hex edit. Simple registry change

This hack will allow any version 6.0 or above Pro Series CPS program all available regions, not just the region installed. I tried this with R06.05AA on a fresh machine and was able to confirm AA, LA and AZ.

Obviously, one should only try this if you are comfortable with editing your registry... Please make sure to make a backup of the key before you make any changes.

Set the value of the following key to "@%&MAHUS" (without the quotes) and restart your CPS.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Motorola\ProRadio\FSK\SerializedString

If you’re still unsure about how to do the hack described above, just google “Motorola HT1250 region hack”.
There’s some good info and even a video to assist you.

Also I just received a xts5000 uhf with FPP. But When I input data via the panel it asks for a password. I then pick ok and keep going. Seems to work as it transmits. What is this for?

A password can be set to block unauthorized programming but isn't needed. Even if not set, it'll still ask for it but pressing OK lets you proceed. It's hardcoded so no way to prevent the prompt from showing.

What exactly was the reasons for the FD at the end of model number? I've seen that before on the waris series. Only thing ive seen to remember was something federal? I don't get why

Motorola told me it was to be more secure for the government. This radio came from Europe on ebay. I had no idea that fd radio were made.

There is functionally no difference between the FD and NA radios other than perhaps a much higher price and needing fed CPS (or the above mentioned registry edit)
