HT1250 Talk Permit Tone

Does anyone know how to enable a talk permit tone for the HT1250 in the cps? Thanks.

Long or short sidetone should be an option when using MDC1200 signaling.

if its not a trunking radio what purpose does it serve? Sidetone is what you need.

It lets you know you have keyed up which is very important so you don't have an open mic.

That is if you're using MDC1200 Pre ID only. If you have it set to post, no sidetone.

You could enable a pre DTMF tone if the 1250 has that option. Set the burst speed to the max, set a 3 digit number and it kind of sounds like a trunking radio talk permit tone. Only draw back is this DTMF burst goes out over the air.

We used a pre-only PTT ID via MDC signaling w/ long sidetone for this. Unfortunately we found it did not work well for radios used with mobile repeaters (especially if the repeaters also had signaling enabled) and so we had to disable it on some radios.

It sounds like my best bet is to probably just enable the TX Timer.
