To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

The rss read the mod # was N25RDH9DP6

WHAT KIND OF RADIO IS THIS.

IS IT LS OR LS+?

I ONLY WANTED A REGULAR RADIO WITH 16m channels per zone with 8 zones!

Ls

It looks like an LS+ . The key to the channel issue is the 6an part as 5an and 6an will only do 16 channels and full keypad,a 7an will do 128 and have MDC and full keypad. I have a 5an that is an LS+ and has 16 conv channels and no MDC. All of the LS onlys have been a DU in the model number and LS+ are DP . Can you share a codeplug so I can look at the 6an differances.

All the ones I have done so far have MDC , B-U-T only on LTR. It will not work on conventional channels, but if you have a 6an with mdc I would like to see the codeplug, that would be a great improvement. It will talk on regular(conventional)frequencies just no MDC,Quick call or other signaling. The last one I had in my hand had 5.09 firmware and it had no MDC. I wish mine had MDC is a 5an with 5.03.02 .

WIth the software cant you program signaling. ON the motorola page it says all ht1250s have Quik Call, MDC-1200 and call tones.

Any way I sent a email to one of my contact on motorola to find out what the deal. If I dont want this radio it up for sale.

This is why people get Pi%@ed when they buy one of these of of ebay thinking they got a 8 ZONE 128 CHANNEL HT1250 with LTR and they did not. Even the Motorola website is very confusing with the LTR radios. Some ebay sellers mislead people with HT1250LS,HT1250LS+,CDM1550LS and CDM1550LS+ that they will do more than 16 convetional channels and others seller don't know what they have. Some of the top version of the HT1250LS+ should do 32 conventional channels but I have never programmed one that really would. I have people mad a me because someone else has mislead them.

My radio (ht1250LS)

16 conv channels w/ mdc1200 and quik call, selective calling, call alert

I think i can do zones too with the conv channels.

I am mad still. I paid over $400.00 for a ht1250 w/ 128 channels 16per/8zones

It has the trunked and talkgroup stuff that I dont need so I wont be using that stuff.

Thanks

i see what i can do with that code plug :)

..

Motorola contacted me back.

They said everything you said. They also said my mod # was in currect. When I had my radio it was programmed to the dealers frequency (RPT-TA) and it had

Selective Call:
MDC 01
MDC 02
MDC 03
MDC 04

Call alert:
QUIK CALL TONES 10 OF THEM

Does that mean that this radio does have signaling (encode/decode) (PPT ID)?

BUT NOW HE REPROGRAMMED IT AND I DONT SEE THE SELECTIVE CALL OR CALL ALERT MENU.

It will let you set up these things but it will not let you assign them to a coventional channel only a trunking channel. When you go to the signalling tab on the conventional window the field will be grayed out,so that you cannot add what you need. Sometimes they add new quirks to new firmware so its hard to tell without seeing it.
They also may have taken these items out of the menu so you will not see them. I had a guy that would mess with the scan list edit and get the radio not scanning the the channels that we need, and then tell me the radio was screwed up. The scan program feature on an HT1000 works great but on an HT1250 its a crappy design,so I took it out of the menu on his radio. I have found no TRUE way to fix this, all the methods that others have said work to fix a scan list through the front panel don't work. When read the radio to the computer it shows its still messed up.

That is an improvement over my HT1250LS+ uhf and others because I use the ID feature on my VHF HT1250.
