Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Is it possible to make my XLS display the unit number of the transmitting radio on the display?

For example with this picture here, you can see my 1250 decodes the radio that just transmitted.

I cannot find any options in the CPS that are obvious, to make the unit ID display like that.

IMG_0031.jpegSpeaking of CPS, does anyone know if there is a “owners manual “ or guide for the Professional Series (Waris) CPS? Having to copy and paste the phrase into Google is tedious and annoying. Some features I can successfully google and figure out what they do, some I have no idea what they do and I’ve been around radios for 30 years.

Have a good weekend everyone,

So I actually just got around to trying this out and writing it to the radio. I cannot get it to display the PTT ID like my lower-tier HT1250 does. I checked every setting mentioned and that I could think of. On the display settings I left one line "Blank", hoping the ID would populate there when I'm receiving but no dice. Not a big deal though.

I wish there was a "user guide" for this ancient Professional Series CPS. There are so many fields and check boxes I wish they'd give a short description of what each does. Most are known to me, but there are also many I'm trying to Google with limited results.

Here and there
It's possible it doesn't have mdc due to being a LTR radio. Some features were bare minimum I recall on the LTR radios.

It will absolutely decode MDC ID. I had one many years ago however I don’t recall the settings. Nice radio, should’ve kept mine
