• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have a fleet of HT750s. All have identical model numbers. There's a few I cannot clone- I get an error "Cannot program radio. One or more features are not supported by the target radio"

I assume its using older firmware. My Motorola dealer said they couldn't update it and just suggested making a new codeplug. That's a bigger pain than I want to deal with.

Are we missing something or anyone have any tricks or suggestions?

We ran in to the same problems when we had HT1250LS+ that had odd revision numbers (stickered as 5AN from the factory but had 7AN firmwares in them) after some efforts by the radio company to get QCII working correctly on an LTR system.

what we ended up doing was rotating those radios OUT of rotation with the staff, and made them lesser used radios that I could get done at my leisure and didn't have to work out issues when cloning.

Once that was done, it was a matter if finding out if they all could accept the same cp, then cloning them that way..turns out, it worked. Only had to make 2 or 3 codeplugs and then just pushed them out just as fast as the others. Those radios went to the standby / rehab vehicle for manpower, can't recall exactly, but I think I gave them markings to identify them visually...like plastidipped antennae or recased them in bright colors. Too long ago. :)

I hate making different codeplugs to do the same thing. I always end up missing something and end up having them functioning differently.

Maybe I found an oddity.

The ones I'm having problems with show original codeplug version of 01.11 factory and latest of 01.10 CPS.

The ones I can clone fine are 1.12 for original and latest. Both field tool / CPS.
