I just got a Realistic HTX-202 VHF and the manual I downloaded from ManualLibs only shows the basic. Would anyone know where I can get the origianal manual or is this it?
I guess they're out there, in better shape than yours?Enjoy.
I rebuilt a bunch of battery packs about two years ago. My original AA pack is so old the plastic is getting weak so time to find another,,,
Best bet on replacing the battery backup is get one of those battery holders with wires and solder that in place. So much easier than trying to get tabbed batteries and soldering them in place. I bought 5 of the holders for about $2.50 a while back. Still have 4 of them. Probably end up giving them away to someone that needs one. There's a service manual out there if you look.
You'll want to replace the memory backup battery though. Mine needed a new battery after about 30+ years. It's not too hard to replace and you can find the batteries online from ebay, etc. They're not specific to the HTX-202.
Repeater-Builder has a whole section on the Radio Shack radios including the HTX series.

It is a nice radio. Not hard to program and durable. Price was good. Think you can find the battery packs on Ebay and the like. I found an HTX-404 at a hamfest about 5 years ago. $5 for it and 3 battery packs, couple were new. Needed a memory battery, but that was all. Now, if I tape my 202 and 404 together, I've got a home-brew dual bander!I know it's an older model but for $40.00 I thought it was a good buy. I'll have to contact the club and I'm sure someone there knows about it. Thank you for the responses. It is a nice radio.
I should have told you my call sign?./., VE3-PEH 73 everyoneI got it with rechargeable batteries, lithium,,a stubby antenna,an ICOM wall plug in?? and a cigarette plug in for the car. and a wall charger for 4 batteries. It is basic but it's still a great radio.I just recently got my Ham license and I also have a Alinco DJ-MD5. Both are working great.
