Does anyone know what frequency the Humboldt EMS would use :?:Thank-You guys for all of the wonderful information!

Hi Walleye,

More than likely they are on Sasktel Fleetnet. I am not sure what talkgroup they use though, because they do not use system 1. The old VHF frequecny EMS used was 158.760 Mhz. Who knows they may still use it because your local hospital had a licence for it. But it's probably only used for backup.

Although every Sask. EMS agency seems to be on Fleetnet, there are not a lot of Fire departments on there. Only Swift Current and Prince Albert as far as I know, and a few of the smaller departments.

You'll find a lot of the rural fire departments on 156.885 or 156.855. Those are common frequrencies for rural Sask. Fire departments. 156.915 is a province wide EMO channel. All of the rural fire departments have it in their radios, but it is seldom used, only for really large scale emergencies.

As for Humboldt, well the licence list above shows the RM of Humboldt on 156.855. That will be the RM Fire department, but I'm not sure if that covers Humboldt proper, or just the surrounding rural area.

Thanks for the info. I don't hear too many rural fire departments, but that's likely due to my location.

So where abouts is Echo district? I assume the districts match the areas covered by each 911 answering point / dispatch centre?

Example - BCAS and other services transporting by ground into Calgary often call on Provincial Ambulance when they run into trouble en route and need a meet with an ALS truck out of Calgary.

Actually, EMS was using 158.760 here in SK for a province wide common channel, before they all went to Fleetnet. I haven't heard the frequency used for quite some time. However, I do believe some of the ambulances may still have the 158.760 transceivers in their units. At least, I do see the long whip antenna on some of the ambulances. Not many though.

I still keep 158.760 plugged into my scanner.

Echo district is roughly north and east of Regina. It takes in Lumsden, Southey, Strasbourg, Lestock, Fort Qu'Appelle, and anything inside of that. Dispatch is primarily handled out of Regina EMS but each Dept. can contract the services of any other dispatch service in the province (ie. Yorkton, Saskatoon, PA or Regina)
