I know people are going to ask about this.
Here are some of the frequencies I've heard from my house in Garden Grove.

Blue Angels,
255.200, 275.350, 305.900, 284.500, 237.800

Thunderbirds,
235.250, 149.650,

Snowbirds,
116.000, 242.600

If I get more I will post them here.

I caught an Air^Air yesterday on 284.250... one of them said, "This is the first time we've flown together!"! Last time I logged them on this frequency was back in FEB2016 at El Centro. I'm monitoring from the northern outskirts of El Cajon, so for me to catch anything is a hit and miss!! :)

-Greg :) Monitoring ZLA & SoCAL from KSAN! :)

I'm glad you posted this, one of the frequencies I listed is wrong. 284.500 should be 284.250. I will edit this.
Thank You :)

(edit) I can't edit the original post, won't let me.

I am right under the flight pattern but could not spend much time watching the scanner's display. I'll be on the pier at the show tomorrow and can verify more..

Hopefully the Air Boss frequency will still be 126.400 MHz as in previous years

On one of their UHF channels today the Blue Angels gave out this VHF frequency and it's been active all day with inflight commands:

122.125 MHz

Active Blue Angels UHF channels today

255.200 MHz
237.800 MHz

Also heard them on a SoCal frequency 128.1 when heading back to Los Alamitos

Blue Angels,
-----, ------, 305.900, ------, ------

What did you hear on 305.900?? That is an active military helicopter frequency up and down the coast. The air show list shows it as dedicated to the C-130 Fat Albert so I'm curious if you can recall what came over 305.900

There wasn't much activity on this frequency and what I heard didn't sound much like Blue Angels. I live about eight miles from Los Alamitos air station. The possibility of picking up someone else is good as I'm sure they have alternate channels for the area of the country they are in.

Nothing military showing on ADSBx between San Diego and Edwards 12:38L

[Edit]Earlier, there were a couple of single-engines flying very slow circles over HB. I'm guessing those were air signs.

Anyone got the air show schedule?

I went to the HB airshow today and it was a blast. I heard the Thunderbirds and Blue Angles on posted frequencies and the Air Boss was busy also. I forgot to program freqs for the Snowbirds and had some old freqs for a Canadian Breitling team from a couple of years ago by mistake.

The F-22 Raptor(s) were awsome as were the Thunderbirds and Blue Angles. The Snowbirds cruised around for awhile aimlessly, probably getting bearings on the area then they synced up in very precise formation. Quite a contrast between the super loud thundering US planes then the quiet Canadians flew around almost like excuse us, just passing through and don't want to bother anyone, eh?

I also had the "OpenSDSB" app on my phone which was helpful in seeing what is coming up next and from where.

I might add that I brought a Whistler TRX-1 with stock rubber duckie and Yupiteru MVT-7100 with tuned VHF air band antenna to the HB airshow, I used the TRX-1 and the wifee used the Yupi. The TRX-1 had some problems with distant aircraft where the Yupiteru received everything loud and clear. There were times the Air Boss complained he couldn't hear a particular aircraft in the distance and the Yupi heard them weak and scratchy where the TRX-1 could not.

Its probably partially the stock Whistler antenna is not tuned for the VHF air band and the MVT-7100 is well known in the aircraft spotter circles as one of the most sensitive scanners for that purpose.

I was able to chat with another RR member Teotwaki on amateur radio at the show, who was a ways up the beach but we were not able to meet up.

For those who have a KU satellite dish, this might be a live backhaul feed for the Air show.
Plenty of signal on my 1.2m dish.

Galaxy 17 91w
Transponder 11793 Vertical
SR 7500

From where I live cant listen to it with my scanners.

It also helps to know which direction they're coming from so one can have the camera ready. I use an earplug and keep everything low key and hands free.
There is nothing like being there on the beach and hearing the pilots live on your hand held scanner as they whiz by just a few hundred yards away.

Enjoy the show. I am out in Riverside and the show at March field is cancelled again this year.

From Huntington Beach PIO Twitter account….

In order to facilitate clean-up efforts, and given the potential health impacts, the decision has been made to cancel the final day of the Pacific Airshow due to yesterday's oil spill. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you in advance for your understanding.
