Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone knows what the following unit designators stand for:

John
Paul - (I believe this is an investigator)
Nova
Lincoln
Henry

I wanted to clarify what I mean by the above post.

Alpha - North Units
Baker - South Units
Charlie - West Units

Delta is another that I don't know.

Any help is appreciated.

The investigators are not as specialized and segmented, as they once were. Many now work as "general" detective, with specialized areas of knowledge. This is to minimize the number of detectives a victim would have to work with, and I'm sure it saves $$$.

John-Juvenile
Henry-Homicide
Lincoln-Larceny
Paul-Investigator, possibly major crimes unit?

Delta-Floating patrol units. They have their own supervisor and fill in manpower shortages or problem areas

Tango-Taskforce units. Funeral escorts and traffic radar.

I may be off a little on the investigator titles, as so much of the titling was created before the department split into 3 precincts.

Thanks for the reply. Thats helps alot. Do you have any idea what a Nova unit is? I seem to think that they are narcotics, but then we have STAC units also. I know STAC does field tests on narcotics but I don't much else about them.

Sorry to resurrect a way dead thread, but most of those are correct. One not mentioned is a KING unit which is a K-9 assisted officer. This one is unconfirmed but I believe DB unit, is adult domestic investigator. And to shed some light on Paul, I believe that is non specific investigators that two or three are generally assigned on duty with each precinct on each shift.
