hurricane freqs

hi i live in SC we have a hurricane coming this way are there any freq that tell me updates like speed direction etc or is all this trunk'd i have a pro-163/164 and the weather channels don't mention nothing and i heard some guys on the ham bands talking about a hurricane net ..?.. i cant find anything on this if anyone can help ,e id much appreciate it thnx

They do have a net on14.325 MHz, I heard it today and they ended for the day around 5pm central time and I am sure it will be back up tomorrow. They also have one on 40 Meters and possibly on 75/80 meters but not aware of the freqs, at this time. The ones on 40 and 80 meters usually last thru the night especially as Irene gets close.
Do a Google search for Hurricane ham freqs and you should run across some.

The National Hurricane Center near Miami has an Amateur radio station. USAF and NOAA Hurricane Hunter aircraft use HF and satellite radio. A quick search online using "hurricane frequencies" or something similar should get you the frequencies. I don't know them off-hand.

You may have a local Skywarn network as well. Check the 2m and 70cm Amateur bands whenever the weather gets bad to see if there's one within listening range. Or, you can check your local NWS office's website, they may have a page on your local/state Skywarn group(s).

Kamakazi Since you live in Greenwood i think you'll be OK you might get some wind and a bit of rain . IF this is for along the coast monitoring I would also monitor [if possible the coastline counties. I'm praying this storm will swing out to see and not come inland. you folks have had enough wet weather and don't need the flooding. BTW Hurricane Watch Net is a vedry goodsite [also gives you the formentioned freq.

not enough its dry as a bone dirt is rock hard and lake is down 3 ft so yea we need the rain thnx for the site tho
