16 FEMA USAR task forces are assigned

watching local TV at 10 am edt - possibly New Orleans wont have power for weeks - they had a major power transmission tower fall into the river

(AC0RV - I dont have any audio files but they should be available via Broadcastify and Broadcastify Calls)
Some people may get power within 7 days up to 4 weeks depending on locations and damage. I rode out Michael and I didn't had power for between 3-4 weeks.

139 pm edt - live press conference from mayor of New Orleans

- sewer system might back up - no power for sewer pumps

- 911 system is not operable - selective routing system has
suffered significant damage - ATT is working on repairs - all fire
stations have open bay doors - or flag down a police officer - will be
retooling how you can send texts to 911

- 8 electrical transmission lines feed New Orleans - 2,000
miles of Entergy transmission lines are down - have 4,500 electrical
workers doing damage assessments - premature to speculate when power
will be restored - 21,000 more electrical workers (enroute) -
generation system + transmission system + distribution system being
evaluated

FEMA Daily Ops Brief - Sept 2 2021 - Hurricane Ida - Louisiana - 982 structures with major damage - 312 structures destroyed - (that is probably very preliminary info) - 1 hospital evacuated - no mention of any 911 problems - 41% of state still has no power

------------------------------

Checking Broadcastify yesterday - only approx 20 feeds were down in Louisiana - couple of New Orleans feeds were still up - and multi suburban feeds were still running

----------------------------

this morning via TV sta WWL via Internet - will be 90 for a week - 50% chance of tstorms today in New Orleans - NWS lost their generator so WX radar is down - approx 6 cooling centers in New Orleans - I10 is open to Baton Rouge but maybe only for emergency vehicles and for civilians heading to New Orleans - LaPlace still has flooding - no mention of 911 problems - iirc most areas have nightime curfews - mile long ques for gasoline - officials telling everyone to stay away - also telling people to leave if they can

I got power back to my place in New Orleans in the warehouse district at about midnight last night.

I've been able to bring my BCFY Calls node back up in addition to the Lower Mississippi VTS Marine Traffic feed. So we should have some SE Louisiana traffic back. I'm getting much worse decode rates on the LWIN NOLA Simulcast site which tells me there are probably problems with the simulcast group being up and operational 100%
