Hi folks,

I have updated the Smartzone and P25 systems for Hydro-Québec using a ton of solid information provided by another longtime RR member/contributor.

Almost all the talkgroup IDs were truncated to six characters, though, so I made some educated guesses as to what each group or TGID was supposed to be. I apologize in advance if I've gotten some of the names wrong. Je suis désolé! ;)

I also didn't put accented characters in the DB because it seems to have a history of not handling them well. I don't even know if most scanners can handle such characters - so it's probably better to leave them out, for the benefit of those using the RRDB download service.

If you do see any errors in what I've posted, please submit the corrections using the usual information-submission practices and one of the admins (if not me) will get to it as soon as possible.

Thanks! :D

Hello,

I went through the southern part of Cantons-de-l'Est and found the VHF sites are now P25. Here in Dorval I hear site 50 at St-Sauveur and it is still Motorola Smart Zone.

SysID on the VHF system is the same as the 800 MHz. This is what I was able to get during a quick dx run to Dorval using the new Unitrunker. I was not able to receive the Mansonville site but that may be due to terrain.

Table 8 has a base of 142 MHz using 5 KHz steps.

Hi Eric,

I too have fun DXing the HQ SmartZone sites. All that I can hear in W. Quebec are still
3.6k, except Huntingdon which comes in fairly often (P25). West of Gatineau, there are
not many sites, only up to about 200km west (Allumette Island), and from there west
and to the north I believe it is still conventional.
