This radio has some really interesting band coverage:

Frequency -

UHF: 350-390MHz 400-450MHz
420-470MHz 440-490MHz
VHF: 136-174 MHz

Looks like there is a lot of commercial activity on UHF and even VHF in China. With the economy booming in that country, I can see where a lot of businesses would have a need for two-way radio communications to better manage their fleet and/or personnel. Moreover, I see the area between 390-400 MHz is not covered. I have heard this is where governmental TETRA systems operate in China.

Built-in Scrambler

I wonder what type of encryption this radio uses? I am thinking it must be some type of voice inversion rather than a digital mode. That said, I wonder if business and industry companies in China are fearful that a competitor might be intercepting their communications? If so, how are they doing it?

The radio only has 16 channels. THe UHF specs are different splits for variuos versions. The radio does not cover all of that all at one shot. The PLL only supports about a 50Mhz spread.

It is available in the US. There are several HYT dealers out there. When Motorola bought Vertex and fired all of the factory reps, HYT signed them on and set up hundreds of dealers. The price can also not be beat.

External spkr-mic inputs and outputs

What kind of input-output ports does the HYT TC-700 offer?

I have a guy who is trying to hook up an E&M interface on a voice gateway to one of these things and his pinouts show pins 1 & 2 not connected. I don't see how that will work without COR coming out of the radio.

He's using 3.5mm and 2.5mm plugs. I assume, like the Kenwood radios, the larger is for receive audio, the smaller for transmit audio, and they close the circuit between the two jacks to signal PTT?

Thanks!

HYT builds radios branded with relm...

I bought a TC3600 from eBay and could find no support from HYT or its dealers because it's not meant for the US market as the Relm RPC3600, or something like that, is the same radio, just branded with Relm.

I found the things I needed, including programming warez without much hassle from Relm dealers/people.
