UK distributors put out a note several months back about the wholesale discontinuations of hytera lines. Leaves a few holes. Can't find it back but from what I remember
PD3xx series discontinued, suggested replacement BP5xx
PD6/7 discontinued, suggested replacement HP6/7xx
X1p suggested replacement HP6/7xx
PD985 discontinued, no replacement (no current duplex or sfr offerings)
etc for repeaters and mobiles
Leaves quite a few holes, for me the PD35x really misses a replacement. The BP is not a replacement, too large and no pseudo trunk. Killing SFR is also a loss (but I kind of expect we will eventually get a HP9xx and the full duplex HM).
All of this does kind of make sense. I work in a not dissimilar size electronic environment and the chip shortage at the moment is a real problem and it effects primarily old designs (because the chip foundrys are over stretched and therefore not producing older, less profitable chips). Most manufactures in our industry have to either discontinue older products, or redesign them to use more recent and higher cost chips.
For Hytera, I imagine trying to keep all the aged PD ranges in production would be a nightmare.
Hytera just announced the PD 6 and 7 radios are end of life, along with the RD982 and X1P.
