• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Good Morning !

I have a Hytera PD982 radio, which at first glance does not turn on, but when I connect it to the computer with the programming cable and turn the power button, I hear it connecting on the computer but suddenly it tells me that it does not recognize the USB cable or the radio!
I have used this cable on this computer many times without issue, but now I have this problem with this Hytera PD982 radio.

Any ideas on what to do, would be appreciated.

Regards my friends.

The bootloader is dead. It's a bricked radio mate. JTAG will help you.

Thank you, my friend!

Do you have any idea how to do that using JTAG?

Thanks.
I have heard a lot about the mentioned JTAG, specifically for Hytera radios, but there is no exact or minimal information to know how to do or use that method to reset the Hytera radios. Any idea on how to do it would be very helpful if someone could comment on it.

To reset Hytera radios? I see you don't even understand what you're talking about. Not to reset, but to restore the bootloader. There are no instructions. If you're hoping someone will post a manual on flashing via JTAG here, I think you'll have to wait a long time. You'll find the JTAG pinout in the service manual. You need to flash the bootloader into the flash memory chip. Figure out how you can do that and your problem will be solved.

Yes, the correct word should have been 'restore', which is almost the same, speaking about the topic in this post... And well, I will figure out how to do this and thank you for the tip, in the search for the exact point, in the service manual of the radio in question! Thank you.
