• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I'm trying to get my commo-game up as the last hurricane was a nightmare once the cellphone towers went down. The break down is I have;

2: Baofeng uv32 DMR Radios (Programmed with AES256)
1: Hytera PD785G (Programmed without AES256)
1: Hytera PD782 (Unprogrammed as I need the North Amercian CPS Software)

Now I have programmed the Baogengs with all my AES 256 Encryptions and channels that I want. Have them working no issues. The rub is that I have programmed the PD785G and gotten it to have the channels and I "THOUGHT" the encryption... however it turns out that to get AES256 you have to pay several HUNDRED dollars to unlock this feature on the DMR CPS Version 8.05.06.008.EM5. Which I know understand is the European Version of CPS and to program my "New To Me" PD782 I will have to purchase the NA (North America) Version of CPS and use that version of the app to program the PD782... My question is does anyone know a way to do this without spending another $250 per radio to unlock the AES encryption or is it better to try and get the Baofengs to use the Hytera BASIC encyption that they already have.

The Hytera "basic" FULL encrypt that is standard on the PD5+ radios is RC4 and compatible with the Motorola Enhanced privacy. I dont use them booofang radios so couldnt tell you what they have for enc stuff.

Can always tinker around and see if they have something that talks RC4 then your set that way at least.

That would be wonderful! If not don't worry about it, its about time I force myself to learn the right ways to program my own DMR Radios hahaha

I just wish that the different companys would at least make their minds up on the basic features they want!

I went and got the software from a seller and now can program the PD782! Now its time to figure out the AES 256 encryption...

I really am thankful for people startong to work together to make ways around these giant Corporations trying to keep the common man from accessing all the features of the devices they bought.

Same as over at Comm Support... openly asking about hacking features won't get you far here.

Wait, are you the person who deleted my reply about baofengs being good starter radios? OMG!

AES is a common algorithm. but each manufactures may have slightly different implementation, especially on the initial vector. I'm pretty sure even you have the AES enabled on your Hytera, it won't talk to Baofeng anyway using the same key.

I've tested my Anytone with Hytera HP78X on AES. They won't work together.
Even for Motorola and Hytera, AES is unlikely to work work with each other.

You are talking nonsense. Hytera works great with AnyTone and with Motorola using AES encryption

Hytera AES-256 works great with Anytone, Motorola, etc as long as you purchased the AES DMRA version.

If it is Hytera proprietary AES then it will not work. Same issue with 40 bit RC4 though I've never seen a Hytera with their proprietary version of RC4, but it exists.
RC4 (DMRA) ALG ID 21
RC4 (Hytera) ALG ID 2
