• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

For the longest time, I've had a BCT15 sitting on the ground of the car and a BC246T in the cup holder. All wiring is basically done, but I'm having some mounting problems.

First of all, I've seen a bunch of different mounts for the BC246, but wasn't sure what would work best in my car. I take out out of the vehicle daily... BCT15 is permanently in the car though. Any thoughts on a BC246 mount?

The BCT15 is giving me the most trouble....I bought the mount bracket from Uniden, and thought it would just slip right into the DIN mount under the radio. I took apart the dash, and oh yeah, it slips *right* in. There is absolutely nothing there to hold the Uniden mount.. and I don't see how it's possible to add another bracket in there. If I removed the radio, the BCT15 would probably sit fine in it's place.

I took a pic of the car in pieces the other day and will post it here when I get home.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Bump.

Quite a pain having all of this radio equipment just sitting around the car and not properly mounted. I'd love to get more scanners, but I don't really feel that confident before getting all of the current gear fastened.

Here's the pic.

As I said above, this setup is getting frustrating... everything from how it's mounted, to the power setup, etc. I'd like to get more radios, but I can't even think about that yet. ;)

what does the mount for the factory radio look like, can you secure the uniden din mount to the factory mount? can you add some metal strapping to secure the din mount to?

there are many options, I was able to mount my 996 in a Dakota just below the dash panels in the standard uniden bracket.
