i think it would be best to use a gps on the scanner.
even i would get tired of punching in all the zip codes.
and if anything happens on the highway you can just get off the highway and "recalculate".
the machine will do the rest.
it happened to me going to a friend in georgia.
the highway was closed (75) and we had no maps and every road was busy, we didn't get to my friend.
we did not know where to go and neither did anyone else.
i happens here quite a bit. even right now there was a rear end with a tractor trailer.
