While waiting for someone to pick me up from KATL, I observed a dog-in-training for ICE. He was (a good looking dog) at the South Terminal Baggage Pickup, sniffing everything that walked by. The ICE agents were observing his behavior, etc. At irregular intervals a different person (obviously working for ICE) walked by with or without luggage and the dog went crazy. Of course, these were planted items specifically for testing his nose. I was there for 45 minutes and saw him hit on 4 "targets."
No radios were involved, unless you count the Nextel phone used by one agent, but I thought it was a cool public safety exercise.
