I-call/Private Talk

I am looking for a good scanner that besides trunking, has I-Call capability. I have been told the Uniden line of scanners does this.

Do ALL the uniden trunktracking scanners have this capeability? The specs on the differant scanners are not very helpfull on this feature.

I have been looking at a BCT8 and also a BCT346 moble scanners.

I'm quite certain all models starting with the 785-D/250-D and newer trunk trackers will scan I-Calls.

The BCT-8 does NOT do I-calls, I am pretty sure the BC780, BC785D, BC796D, BC250D, BC296D, BC246T and BC396T all do I-Calls if that helps.

It depends what system you want it for, if it's a 9600bps CC P25 system, then the only one that will work for I-Calls on those is the BCD396T.

Wow, Thanks for all the help!! Right now I do not need digital but a Illinois is going to Starcom I can see I will need one in a couple of years.

It depends what system you want it for, if it's a 9600bps CC P25 system, then the only one that will work for I-Calls on those is the BCD396T.

So the 396T is supposed to pick up I-calls on digital systems? I have yet to hear anything (other than control channel noise) on mine when I-call is enabled. Is there something I'm doing wrong. My 396 would intermittently lock up on the control channel (with the noise)and the I-call TG id would show up on the display.

The activity and amount of I-Calls WILL vary from system to system, maybe in your system they're not used often, if at all....
