I see in the lafayette listing there is some repeaters listed as talk arounds. There is one called I-CALL and I-TAC 1-4

I just got a 296D uniden and in the software there is a place for I-CALL on or off or only. Does this have anything to do with the I-CALL freq listed in the database or is it not the same thing at all.

Also there are some other settings that I dont know what they are Status Bits and End of Tone. What do these do?

Okay, this is one of the reasons that the national I-TAC frequencies should never be listed in with normal frequencies. Every 800MHz Public Safety Trunking system, when licensed by the FCC automatically is also licensed for the 5 I-TAC frequency pairs. It has nothing to do with the trunking system. It is that way so that every 800MHz trunked radio can talk to another 800MHz trunked radio on conventional frequencies. It is for Interoperations (the "I" in I-Tac).

I-Call (in the Uniden world :roll: ) is the ability of a trunked radio to make a private call to another trunked radio. Some EDACS systems call it I-Call, Motorola systems call it "Private", Nextel calls it "walkie-talkie", in any case some Uniden scanners can follow those calls and (as I said) Uniden choose to call them I-Calls. :lol:

In any case the I-Call stuff you see in your Uniden manual has nothing to do with those "talk-around" repeaters you see. As for the status bits and end tone, take a look at Trunking Information off of the home page to make more sense out of those.

The conventional freqs listed on this website for the lafayette system are listed as 10-rp 12-rp 13-rp etc and the ones that are listed as I-CALL and I-TAC are not the freqs that you are talking about that are used for private mode? It just so happens that uniden and the lafayette talkaround repeaters have the same name(The have nothing to do with one another?)

So now with my uniden I can enable this I-CALL mode and hear the private calls right.

Before on my pro95 I didnt have a mode like this and to listen to the private calls I would havee to disable the trunking part of that bank and make it scan in conventional mode to pick them up. Does this make since?

not in "I-CALL" and are not used for normal talkaround for the system. But instead are for National Emergency use and likely no I-Calls

So now with my uniden I can enable this I-CALL mode and hear the private calls right.

Your system, if I read correctly, is the Layafette Consolidated Government Mot II Smartnet.
Simply turn I-Call on and if any I-Call traffic is transmitted, you should be able to receive it. I enter the generic (for Mot I-CALLS) ID 700000 in an otherwise empty Scan List and activate that List also during normal ID SCAN

This is true with GRE scanners, but in my system, the first freq is not use for any normal trunked ID's with the exception of I-Call and broadcasting the station ID in CW ever half hour. Because of this, I'm able to listen to the few boring I-Calls by setting that freq to FM. All other trunking is unaffected.
