i-calls on the 296d

i did recieve a i-call on the cook county illinois system today...although it was encrypted like the majority of the system is. as i was saying all along these trunked systems obviously have the i-calls blocked and it is not the scanner manufactors that has the i-call blocked.

Exactly how would a trunk system block an I-call in such a way as to allow reception on the radios and not on scanners? :?

(Hint: Encryption is not blocking)

The very fact that you received an I-call (albeit encrypted) is evidence that they are not blocked on your scanner.

well one digital system the i-calls can not be monitored on the conventional frequencies within that trunked system when i notice a i-call. so these i-calls must be on another frequency or obviously somehow blocked. but i did recieve the cook county il digital i-call which was encrypted.

If it doesn't exist on any of the system frequencies, you are MISSING one or more of the system frequencies. The communications have to get to the radio units somehow. How are you noticing that there is an I-call in the first place?
