and they can be picked up on a scanner?

Generally, yes. Many scanners will not trunk them, but will pick them up on conventional mode.

If you have a trunktracking scanner that has I-CALL ability built in it, when you're in trunked search mode on a system or in open mode (radio shack's term) on a system and someone initates a PC (Private Call) with another unit your scanner will lock onto that call displaying the radio's ID on your scanner and you'll hear both people talking until either, A. they terminate the PC, or B. you press scan or search again, or turn ICALL off in your scanner.

Dispite what most users think, they believe PC's are actually secure, but they're not. Radios can be configured to intercept other user's PC's. I know my county's dispatch can do it, but their officers don't have any idea lol...

The only RS trunker to date that will pick up I-Call is the V1 Pro-92. One of its good quirks

Hhhmmmmm

Can they be programmed like TG's?

I don't use it often, but it may be fun to play with :D

And the 796, 296, 396, etc...

Yes and no. Most scanners will not track I-calls on 9600 systems. The 396 is the single exception.

depending on what model you are using grog. On Unidens digital models you can put in a wildcard which anytime I call is used your scanner will pick it up. Somewhat like a TG.

From my quote, I was asking about the 1st version of the Pro-92. That would make it the only GRE built scanner to track I-Calls.

I have played with the I-Calls monitoring my companies 900 system with a 246T. Intresting indeed
