I've been saying "Here scanner, here boy" and whistling all night, and mine hasn't moved. I can still hear it though.

My scanner must be female, it talks all the time and never hears a word I say, just like my wife and my girlfriend...

HA! Touche sir XD

I do not understand what you're talking about.

Can you explain?
You can use any online service that gives you a number to call. You then simply hook your scanner up to your line in or mic jack. Start up the client with the phone number service on your computer then just call the number from where ever.

WHY "call"?

Now,

I've heard of Hams that travel and don't have the ability to hook up a rig in their hotel room, yet have a laptop, so they access the home rig via the internet and can "access" the rig and even "talk" on it, all through the laptop. This was before HRD.

However, if I'm home, in the F-150 pickup, or in the middle of Home Depot, I have a scanner and/or ham rig going either, base, mobile, or hip-held, LOL! You might say I'm "Radio Active", LOL! They're turned off at night, so I can sleep, with the exception of the R$ Pro-2045 and it's in SAME mode when there is a possibility of a Skywarn alert.

Hopefully, soon, I'll have dedicated computer going (I'm on the wife's, now) and I'll be able to use HRD for the ICOM 706 Mark II-G and to run the R$ Pro-95 with StarSoft.

I wished "someone" would come up with an all-band, all mode, analog/digital scanner (going both at once) that would cover frequencies from 13 khz to 3000 ghz in a desktop & mobile models, for under $150.oo.........Well, I can "dream" can't I? Bwahahahaha!

The first I heard about Amateur Radio remote control was when Katchina made a rig specifically for it. Since then it has progressed, don't know the specifics but there are plenty of hams operating under remote operation rules, it's called a "remote base".

"My scanner must be female..."

"Must be"? When was the last time you turned it over?

I did that on a business trip that took me all over the eastern half of the country in the winter of 2007 when I was consulting for IBM. I used the Asterisk server at my house, ran a software based phone on my laptop and keyed up my home rig to participate and conduct two different weekly nets. Until I was able to resolve a bandwidth issue, people were reporting that my audio was garbled/choppy at times. 99% of the people did not even know that I was out of town for a few months!
