....exactly what was going on in my local area before I started scanning. It is interesting what is not reported in the media and what these first responders see on a daily basis. God bless them!

Rather an eye opener to say the least, if it's not splattered all over the road or riddled with bullets it's not news.

Over the years of scanner listening, my respect for law, fire, EMT, etc personnel has grown tremendously. These people risk their lives everyday to help us and I really appreciate them!
Lots of things don't make the news because many news outlets rely on press releases. At least in my area, stations don't monitor scanners nor chase stories like they'd use to due to staffing cuts. Your scanner is the best source of raw and realtime news.
