This may not be the right room to post this I have an Couple of questions I would like to ask as anyone ever tried to use the satellite dish as an antenna it’s my understanding if that would work it would be only able to pick up in the direction it is pointing towards I would like to ask if anyone that has the bcd396xt would you be willing to share menu settings you have

It depends entirely on what frequency(s) you are interested in and what that 'dish' was made for. If the frequencies of interest are in the same band as what the dish was designed for then it'd probably work. If not, then there would be no benefits at all. Just in general, don't count on it working.

Don't forget that a satellite dish is actually a mirror, as compared to a "normal" yagi antenna.

The actual receiver, or a frequency down converter, is mounted on the stand-off structure facing the dish.

The distance from the dish surface to the receiver is a critical measurement, depending on the frequency being received.
