• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Blame PRC Guy as he is always creating ways to spend my money. I also never totally bought in to the Batwing Cult.

Now I have two nice Harris radios, one for the vehicle and one for home.

Still waiting on a delivery of power connectors to build 4 cables. I’ve ended up with extra Canbus 120 ohm terminations but could use a two pin speaker connector if anyone in the Orange County area would like to make a trade.

In the garage I had two dusty vintage plastic Harris speakers that will clean up nicely

Are you looking for the two pin round connector for the back of the control head? The 100M shipped standard with a pigtail that converted that round connector to a two pin molex, so I just want to confirm what you need. Both of these parts are still available from major parts houses (mouser, allied, digikey). I’ve posted the part numbers a couple of times on here, but I can post again when I have time to find them!

Basically I ordered power connectors from DigiKey and 3 pin CANBUS connectors from Arrow but spaced on ordering one two pin speaker connector. My radios were bought used so they had no speaker pigtails supplied.

The connectors are Conxall brand. Power is 3182-3SG-3DC, CANBUS is 16282-3PG-318, and control head speaker is 16282-2PG-311

So to save on paying postage for one small two pin connector I'm looking to locally trade 3 pin CANBUS termination for a two pin speaker connector

If you filch two tri banders it would equal a hex. That is what I'll put on you.
I was going to tell you I received your four new Canbus 3 pin connectors but hey….. suddenly I realized I’m mistaken!

I have the speaker connector to round connector pigtails. Along with a ton of mics, speakers, and CH721 control heads and M7300 radio units. I, too, have an XG-100M and it serves all my needs quite adequately.

But I'd still prefer an APX 8500. I don't have any problem with modern era Harris gear, and I have a fair amount of it, but some Motorola products still rate as most wanted in my book.

Except when it comes to using them as trunked scanners. Then, the advantages of Harris gear put them on top.

I do want to experiment with a different speaker choice for the radio. I can't help but thinking that a higher fidelity speaker
will slightly improve intelligibility than the stock 4" speaker in the housing. And if not, it was a cheap experiment.

Nice! I'm hoping someone nearby will have one for trade.

On my R8600 I am running a small Radio Shack 4"x4"x7" bookshelf speaker and it sounds gooooood
