Hi everyone,

I've am going to get pro - 2096 scanner but before I get it, I have questions about pro - 2096 scanner.

When I scan between frequencies 460 - 468 or other frequencies will I see alphanumeric display with text entry can show ID code or service name when it stops and receives the channel frequency then to add it to my list in the bank.

What is MDTs Telm? Is that a fleetmap trunked frequency or something else. Can I pickup those frequencies with the pro - 2096 scanner.

Probably a good choice, assuming you have done your research and aren't going to try and pick up something that no scanner will. As to the scanning and then storing frequencies, yes you can do that; however, they will not come with names already. I mean the RF being transmitted and received by your scanner won't identify who it is coming from for the most part. You will have to figure out who you are hearing and apply your own text tags to the channels. The one exception is that the radio will report SysID #'s for Motorola TRS control channels. This will become more clear as you get into Trunking.

MDT = Mobile Data Terminal
Telm = Telemetry (pure data signals in simple terms)
Can you pick them up? Sure. Can you make any sense of them? No.
Used to be that the older MDT systems could be hacked using a software program, but for the most part all MDT's now use digital format (not the same as P-25 digital voice) and mostly are encrypted anyway. You are not going to be able to decode them. In addition, it is unlawful to do so in the US.

Hope this helps you out. :)
