Not sure it would be a good performer on VHF. UHF MilAir possibly. I use it for 800MHz P25.

You were absolutely correct, the thing wasn't very effective at the VHF bands but great at 800/900 mhz. I switched for a longer one.

What did you end up getting?

For commercial aircraft, and MilAir, I've been using a Diamond RH77CA. It works quite well!

It has a BNC connector, so it requires the BNC/SMA adapter that came with your scanner. The SRH77CA is the same antenna, only with the proper SMA connector for the BCD436HD.

I usually stick with antennas having BNC connectors, as I have more scanners that use BNC, than SMA.

It was this one MFJ-1720S which has an SMA connector. Its picks up 440 like you wouldn't believe. I was hearing our local mall from 2 miles away. Its good on air band but I haven't taken it along to the airport yet.

Those Diamond ones work well also.

I probably should mention that I have an AOR8200MK3 radio not a digital capable scanner so I don't know what this will do at 800mhz
