A while back I posted a question about a lost power cord for an AOR 3000. I decided I might install a standard connector if I couldn't find the stock cords when I went back to my parents house for the Holidays. Ok, so when I went back to my parents house for Christmas I searched again for the cords, but no luck. I went to Radio shack and bought a new coaxial connector, so that I could use standard connectors. I opened the radio up and I immediatly noticed a large capacitor wired in with the power connector across the positive and negative terminals. it is a 16 v 2200 uf size that is about an inch tall. Now I am wondering if I need to buy one and install it with the new connector, or should I just run the wires from the new conector and just solder them on to the terminals of the OEM connector? that would ensure that the cap is wired in correctly and has the right tolerances. Should I install a DPDT switch so that I have to select wich connector I am using, or is this not needed? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!
