I don't know if I'm in the right area to post this or not if I am not can you please direct me to the right area thank you. I just purchased a SDS100 because I live in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I am trying to program it to pick up Santa Fe City police except they are on a trunk system I cannot figure out how to enter the frequency with a letter after it can I get some help please,Thank you! Anyone that has the SDS 100 and give me information for locking in on these frequencies let me know. Example 856.212c I do not know how to enter the c after the end of the frequency also how do you talk groups work?

Hi, I can't offer specific advice on the SDS 100, but the letters you see after the frequency (c) and (a) are only there for your reference to let you know it is either a primary (c) or alternate (a) control channel. They are not meant to be entered into the scanner; only the numerals go in!

Are you not able to use the Zip Services button to program using the zip code?

Give this file a try. Save the attached zipped file to your computer and extract. Go to the File tab in Sentinel and Import from hpe file (Favorites List). Click on New Favorites List and name it Santa Fe NM Click on OK. In the Downloads folder, highlight and Open the extracted file (Santa Fe NM.hpe). It will appear as a favorites list in Sentinel.

Okay guys I do have one more question if you guys can help me I am a little confused on a p25 trunk system so do I need to have a control channel to listen to The talk group correct or incorrect?
Let's say I answer the talk group and don't have a control channel would I be able to listen into them or vice versa do I need both a control channel and a talk group?

The main control channel controls the entire system. Voice and data channels are allocated by the control channel. It is advisable to have the alternate control channels programmed as well. The control channels MUST be entered for everything to work properly.

Thanks that's what I thought just wanted to make sure also if I'm trying to add New Mexico State Police you have to add the whole system or can I just add the Santa Fe channels

You would have to program (I think) Tesuque Peak site 003 control channels on the new state system. I know I get NMSP Dist 1 on Sandia (site 004) down here. Again, with the P25 system, you just need to enter the control channels. Talk groups can always be downloaded off the RR site through Sentinel.
