Ridge, do you have something portable AM that you can vary the size of the receiving antenna, or eliminate it easily? Something that would attenuate the received noise signal the farther you moved away form the source? This may get you closer to the problem line or insulator. It might speed up the power company if you could tell them which pole the noise is coming from. Just a thought.

Well, it's hard to say for sure, but it sounds like he's pretty much narrowed the source.

See if the power company is willing to send a truck out. The best thing is to be there when they arrive to show them what's happening. (They don't always announce themselves either so you need to be persistent in watching for them.)

As Ridge said before, it sounds like my power company in that they need a 3rd party to sign off on the RFI complaint before any work gets done -- so they can bill the appropriate party. This just adds a few weeks to the repair -- which will probably take less than 30 minutes.

Just to update-
the noise offender has been gone for the 4th day so far. I can actually listen to HF with NO noise blanker at all! That is pretty cool. I don't want to jinx it so I waited to report. No word from PG&E yet so I presume either they fixed the problem without bothering to say anything, or it was something that went away on its own. I'll call them in a couple days and ask.
Nevertheless, I shot an order for the Timewave ANC-4 last night from HRO. There are some other noise goblins around here that could stand some cleaning up. I watched a few Ytube videos of the ANC-4 and was sold. This guy's video compelled me to go ahead and order one

although I read a couple testimonies in Eham that it may not kill power line noise that is too strong like I had-I still think it will be a good thing to add to the shack!
I will put here how well it does when it's here and all set up:)
