I Never hear Trumbull or Mahoning or portage Countie jails?

I never hear the trumbull jail on 867.5500 and the mahoning jail on 866.6000 is it because i am to far away? because i should be hearing them. on 155.4900 i have yet to hear the portage jail not even once all i hear is boardman pd on it? i dont understand? :?:

They use low-power repeaters. Meaning, you need to be close to hear them.

Honestly, who wants to be 30-40 miles away and listen to jail operations?

I have a couple buddies that work in the Seneca County jail about 30 miles away and I would love to snoop in on them

but is the trumbull county jail really in digital mode or is it analog? because i will be going past their tommorow.

It is APCO-25. In layman's terms, it is digital.

Portage County Jail is very active on 155.49. From Garretsville you should hear them LOUD and CLEAR. If not, get yourself an outside antenna to improve your reception. I live in Mogadore and can easily pick up the Portage County jail with a simple outside antenna from Radio Shack.

I tryed last night to pick them up no go. also their is a another agencie that uses that same frequencie boardman pd in mahoning countie i can pick them up loud and clear but not the jail and i also have a radioshack outdoor attenna on my roof and i live in a gulley that maybe why i cant pick up the jail and also because boardman pd uses that frequencie to. :!:
