I have a warranty repair issue, so I sent it in. I tracked it and it arrived a week ago Monday. I keep checking the website for Repair Status, but it tells me it can't locate any repair order...

Anyone who's been down this road wanna offer some suggestions on how this usually goes?

Been down this same road and it is not fun. Here is a brief synopsis of how it played out...

Uniden BCD996T Repair SNAFU said:
Scanner stopped working, so I completed Uniden’s online repair form on 26 Nov 08. I boxed it up with a copy of the repair form and a copy of the receipt from when I initially purchased the scanner (8 Feb 08). I mailed it via UPS (tracking number: 1Z 000 OOO 03 7005 683 2) on 26 Nov 08. UPS showed the scanner was received at Uniden on 3 Dec 08 and was signed for by Torez, but the Uniden website showed no record of receiving it.

Hold-Time: 84 Min
On 8 Dec 08, the scanner was still not showing on Uniden’s website, so I called and was informed that the scanner was indeed at their facility, but the person said that they also needed a receipt that reflected the purchase date. I informed the person that I included a receipt with the scanner. After several minutes, the person returned and said that they did find the receipt and it was scheduled to be shipped by 24 Dec 08. They also gave me a new SRO number (1913194), which showed up the next day.

Hold-Time: 43 Min
On 22 Dec 08, I checked the Uniden website for the status. The website stated that the scanner is “Holding For Payment” and that I needed to send $49.50 for the repair, or the scanner would be disposed of. I immediately called and they said that there was no receipt. I told them that there was a receipt, so they put me on hold and went to check. They came back and said that they found the receipt and that it would be covered and that it should be shipped by 24 Dec 08.

On 26 Dec 08, I got a letter from Uniden stating that the repair was not covered under warranty due to there not being a receipt with the unit. The letter requested me to mail or fax a copy of the receipt… I tried to call them, but they were closed for the holiday period.

Hold-Time: 53 Min
At 1100 on 29 Dec 08, I called and spoke to Brenda. She said that it was being held for payment. I told her that I had spoken to two different people and they told me that the unit was covered. She sent an email to the warehouse requesting that it be released due to them already having a copy of the receipt. She also requested that the warehouse send me a confirmation email when it does release for shipment.

At 1654 on 29 Dec 08, I got an email from Uniden that indicated that the scanner was being shipped via FedEx. I checked the Uniden website and it stated that the scanner was still being held for payment.

0500 on 30 Dec 08, the Uniden website still indicates that the scanner is being held for payment although it has already been picked up by FedEx and that it has already left the FedEx Dallas facility… What is going on with Uniden’s tracking system?

I finally got the scanner on 8 Jan 09.

I hope your luck is better than mine. Uniden's tracking system is flawed, plain and simple and their customer service is even worse. An hour and a half on hold is ridiculous and then being placed on hold again because they don't believe you when you tell them that you did send a receipt with the return is just a slap in the face.

I sure hope they get their act together. If I would have had access to a service manual, I would have fixed it myself.

Well, that's disgusting...

I know mine's there, Torez is the one who signed also.

Same deal on the website.

Man, I hope my experience goes better....

Looks like I'm off to a similar start though...

Thanks for taking the time to share that.

Also, when you call the repair department, they automatically assume that you are calling to repair a cordless phone. So when someone finally answers, and you tell them it's for a scanner, you get "transfered". In my experience, you get dropped from que and have to call back.

Hello
I recently sent my BCD996T in for repair, it's supposed to arrive back today.
Took about 3 weeks. Never showed up on website until they sent me the details about it being shipped back which contained a tracking # for their site.
Good luck and wish your scanner a speedy recovery :)

Looks like a little light is shining through the tunnel...

I just checked the website and it's repair record is on file! Expected ship date is Feb. 13.

Thanks to each of you for posting.
