With all due respect to the folks who have posted on the thread, I direct your attention to the RRDB page on the DLR TRS for the naming/usage of the various TGIDs. Unless someone has more 'official' sources, I think that they are more accurate that what has been passed around here.

As an FYI, I visited the DLR over the weekend. The general reporting in the last posts is accurate. My only addition is to correct some of the naming, and to add that the DLR FD TG:
1104 045 Fire 2
..was also active.

When did you visit? I was there ALL DAY Friday with friends.

There is apparantly a "Big Switch" this upcoming week to Nextel. However, "Not everyone" is getting Nextels. It will be interesting to see which TG stay, which go, and maybe which get reassigned. ALSO, had a very..."interesting" convo with Security 1 today regarding scanning in the parks. Will post more on that one later.

I'm waiting with baited breath. Maybe I should brush my teeth? :)

Seriously, my guess is that he's against it.

They won't like you running around Disneyland with your scanner; but they can't do a damned thing about you listening to them off of their private property either. I'll bet that much the same goes for any other amusement park's radio frequencies listed in the RR database.

I have listened to Santa Cruz Boardwalk on occasions. It's mostly APBs for lost kids or a snack bar runing out of junk food. Pranksters bring out their firecrackers for the 4th of July. Real crimes occur near this (free admission) amusement park which is surrounded by the gang infested Beach Flats neighborhood and the Pacific Ocean. Go in the day time if you must; but don't be caught in that barrio near the parking lots after dark...

I observed Downtown Disney security carrying Motorlas and Nextels today. From what I could overhear, they were using the chat channel to troubleshoot why they couldn't hear each other on the Nextels. :) Sounds like we're getting near the end of the transition.

Thanks for making the table.

How much are you listening to these TGIDs? During my last visit to DLR, I monitored that the facilities TGIDs were shared between parks. So when I was listening to 496, I would hear attraction down calls for DL *and* DCA rides. Same with 528/560. I haven't heard enough traffic on 912 to know if it is also shared for sure, but I suspect it.

I listen for several days at a time with a BCD396T dedicated just for Disneyland to confirm the users. It's great being close enough for a strong signal. I am listening today to the primary security channels waiting to see when the switchover to Nextel takes place, if it does.

Thanks for making the table.

I'm doing what you're doing Mick. I'm hearing greatly reduced traffic on the parks Blue channel. Sometimes there's up to 5 minutes of silence between transmissions.

What do you use to log active talkgroups? I've been using bcTool - it rules the pool.

Over the past three hours I've logged activity on exactly THREE talkgroups. There's no more security, no more park-wide announcements - nothing. I'm hearing lots of "I can't get him here, I'm going to try him on the new radios" this morning on the facilities channels.

469 - Facilities/Maintenance Base "Channel 5"
560 - Facilities/Maintenance Center "Channel 7"
1808 - Jungle Cruise Boats

I'll keep logging for the next 24 hours or so, but I don't have very high hopes on hearing much more. When I didn't hear the park opening announcement on any talkgroups today I knew it was a bad sign.

well it was fun while it lasted :-(

Are you going to sell the 396 now, or hang out at Knotts? ;)

So what about that discussion with the security person?

And for the record, you can still scan the headsets for parades, shows and fireworks.

Yeah, the system is totally quiet today. Nearly all of the recordings I got over the last 24 hours have been silent quick-keys, or brief admonishments to "start using the new radios."

The fun times are over. Now let's see what they end up doing with that fancy expensive Smartnet hardware.

And for the record, you can still scan the headsets for parades, shows and fireworks.

Maybe you could add those to the DB. :) There's a few lists here and there on various sites, but no one's yet compiled a single up-to-date list of frequencies for those. I'd do it myself but I'm too far away to pick them up.

It seems that some Nextel traffic is now being simulcast on Parks Security (272) and Hotels/Downtown Security (816). They don't sound as active as the old Blue channels, but maybe that's because more users are using Direct Connect.

Every transmission ends with a beep, and the sound quality is very muffled. It's hard to understand what's being said most of the time. But hey, it's something.

Well lets hope they drop this system fast. How will we know when people are scalping tickects to Disneyland or when the there is a code V or a code H.

Just a quick update.

The security simulcasts have stopped. As far as I can tell, there's now only a single talkgroup that's being used on the entire system on a regular, day-to-day basis - Jungle Cruise on 1808. And even they are starting with Nextels this week from what I can hear.

You may hear or log some quick-keys on some of the old talkgroups, but voice traffic is rare and radio calls are generally not responded to.

Thanks so much for the update.

The Jungle Cruise boats have a mobile radio mounted on a bulkhead, so maybe they think this is a more durable installation than what is available via Nextel? Do any of the Nextel experts know if they make a radio in a mobile form factor?

btw, the Mark Twain also has a similar installation up in the wheelhouse.
