Search for it - there are many, and you can have patents on a light that is on a scanner that lights and/or blinks when a signal on a certain channel is present.

There are a ton of patents on each and every scanner made these days - especially on the higher end ones.

Uniden is in the process of updating the scanners so you don't have to press a key to see the frequency of a close call hit. Why are they only doing this now? The PATENT ran out on automatic display that was held by Optoelectronics. So, stupid or small things to have patents.

There is already a light. Is the patent on the time that the light can be on? what is the US patent number?

Yes, and I don't have the number offhand. Uniden's timed alert light is a loophole left in the patent for the carrier controlled light - just as GRE/Whistler's Signal Stalker is a loophole left in the patent for Close Call.
