This is the install of my IC-208H. I will try and post some actual installation pictures in a new thread since it only lets me upload a few pics at a time.

installation methods

Ok, the first three pictures show the materials I used to make it so the control head attaches with just magnets. The magnets are very powerful, and the control head stays in place even while adjusting the controls, or going over bumpy dirt roads. It also lets me remove it quickly to store it in the center console. The metal will be painted black later to match the interior, and the excess metal on the right side will be cut off (because that's the only part that looks really ugly at this point.) The last two pics show how I mounted the main unit underneath the steering column. The fuse panel removes very easily, allowing me to bolt it to the entire panel. It may look like a bad place to put it at first, but actually there's plenty of leg-room for me, with room to spare, so I would only see a problem with this location for a very tall person. As neatly as I could, I used some cable ties to secure the cables, ensuring they don't hang down and get in the way of the pedals.

last of install pics

Nothing too exciting here. This might help someone who has a late model Honda Civic. In the first pic, you see where the power cable exits the interior of the vehicle. If you were to pull down on the carpet about two inches on the top (I should have taken another pic), you would see a rubber grommet already installed there from the factory. I had to be very careful to not damage wires that are already running through this hole. All of this is completely hidden by the floor mats that came with my car. In the second pic, you can see where they poke through on the other side. If you can't spot it, look right in between the copper tube above it, and the black tube beneath it. The third pic just shows the power cable double-fused at the battery. That's it! Thanks for looking. E-mail me at kd7klq@arrl.net if you have any questions about my install, or you can just reply to this post.

Is that radio under the dash on the drivers side? If so i definetly wouldn't keep it there.
