• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I am a novice radio operator. I'm setting up an IC-5021 for my off-road rig. I have programmed one of the P buttons to operate as "Scan A Start/Stop" and another as "Scan B Start/Stop". I believe the Scan setting are factory other then I changed mode dependent scan to "On" as it seems easier to turn the scan function on and off. Have not set anything up in the "scan list" page as i am not sure what to do here. This radio came with the rig when I bought it.
My issue: When I select a scan list, scan 1 seems to be the only one that scans. I don't even know what the difference between the 10 scan #s and zone selection are?
Scan 1 does scan threw all 3 zones of channels i have programmed. I would like to create a custom scan list. My issue is: when i turn scan 1 on it scans until it reaches a NOAA channel then stops scanning as NOAA is always transmitting. I would simply like to scan without stopping on NOAA . So i would like to exclude NOAA from the scan list.
Any help would be great.

Thank you

I don't have a 5021, but have programmed a lot of 5061's. On the screen where you enter a Zone's channels, there is a section off to the right called "Scan List" where you can enter a Scan List designator (numbers 1234567890 and letters A-G). Any channel can be a part of any combination of Scan Lists by simply adding the Scan List designators to that channel's line on the Zone chart. Use the attached manual to get an idea of how to use the Scan and Scan Add/Delete PF keys. Have fun with it.
