• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

hello,
i recently purchased an F521 and am waiting for the programming cable to come in. in the mean time i am playing with the software and have a few small questions. I have programmed an F50v so i am familiar with the basics of the icom software.

what is the most current software? i am running CV-500 v20

can you alpha tag the banks in the 521? I do not see an option on that page like on the F50v. i also do not see where to put in MDC encode/decode. is this radio capable of ANI?

thanks

I don't know about the software but I can tell you that if you want to be able to alphatag banks that setting would be under "Bank Operation" and you should be able to click a text box under the "Text" column and enter the tag. If that is not there, I don't think that you can do that. This radio is not capable of MDC1200. In order to do ANI you will need the UT-108 module.

those are not options in the bank menu .... the f50 software has options like that, but i could not find it in the CS-500. i guess it doesn't have alpha tagging of banks. i could have sworn i read somwhere in the specs that it did though.

F521 Bank names

In the software scroll down to scan. Click to open and the 10 banks positions open up. You can name anyone of the 10 to your liking.

so once i install the ut-108r, how do you program and configue it? i still see nothing in the RSS for MDC/ANI (as i formerly stated) ... thier is a field in the rss for the scrambler functions even though the radio does not have that capability without the scrambler board installed.

does anybody have 1 installed and can explain how it functions.

Yes, the banks can be tagged in the F521. Here is a clip from a page that was put out. I expect you can get it from Icom Canada, if nowhere else.

Icom Canada
Optional Firmware IF04019B Features and setup

With the addition of the IF04019A firmware into the F521 / F621 radios the use of the CSF500 BCFS cloning software will need to be used to program the new features.

1) Bank Name
An alpha tag can now be put towards the bank (bank name) so that when selecting a bank the name will be displayed for identification purposes.
