• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello all. I’m struggling to program an Icom IC-F70DS. I have the version 2.2 software, version 2.6 on the radio, a usb programming cable and it will not connect with the radio. The light on the programming cable blinks as if it’s trying to connect but there is no difference if the radio is connected to the cable or not. I get the no answer from radio message. I’ve programmed numerous other radios but this one is kicking my behind any help would be greatly appreciated.

It came with the radio that I picked up. It doesn’t say icom on it though so I don’t believe so.

It more than likely will require a driver to be installed for the cable to work. Did it come with a disk or anything? Without the driver you'll be dead in the water..

I downloaded the driver for the usb cable, and it looks good in the device manager. When you click read or write, there is a little green light on the cable that flashes a couple times, but it doesn’t matter how f the radio is hooked up or not, it comes up with the exact same error. I’ve done a ton of other radios and had no trouble. I had to set it aside for a day to regroup. Usually the solution is staring you in the face but frustration makes you not see the obvious. Certainly not giving up though lol!

Success! I took the usb end of the cable I had apart, and found the TX wire was not soldered. Tapped it with the iron, and the radio and cable are working fine! Thanks for those who helped and hopefully this may help someone down the line.
