I recently pulled my IC-R10 off the shelf for some ISS monitoring use. I soon remembered why I got it so cheap (near free), it had very poor receive. Upon dissection, the problem was found to be a repair job form someone in the past. The male BNC antenna plug that mounted to the board was lose. I removed the circuit card and the copper pad where the BNC had once sat, fell off (cold solder that someone in the past had tried to fix). I tried putting a thin wire to join the antenna to the board, but it doesn't work.
And ideas on what to do? I looked for a schematic or diagram of the board so I could just tap right into the spot the antenna terminates, but to no success.
