Welcome to the board and greetings from Indiana. You have purchased an excellent receiver. The R20 is awesome on the air bands.

First of all, I would recommend software to program your R20. Much easier.

In order to scan between two frequencies, you want to use one of the 24 scanned edges (0-23). However, I would obtain (many sources on the Web) the civilian and military air frequencies for your area and enter those into your R20. I have approximately 400 air band frequencies in my R20. Also, be sure and assign a text tag to each frequency for future identification.
