ICOM Japan now has English Web Pages for the IC-R2500 and IC-PCR2500.

http://www.icom.co.jp/world/products/receivers/r2500/index.html

http://www.icom.co.jp/world/products/receivers/pcr2500/index.html

Also there are new PDF Brochures in English:

http://www.icom.co.jp/world/products/pdf/IC-R2500.pdf

http://www.icom.co.jp/world/products/pdf/IC-PCR2500.pdf

The Brochures are quite interesting.

There are also two new PDF Owners Manuals:

http://www.icom.co.jp/manual/external/transceivers/IC-R2500.pdf

http://www.icom.co.jp/manual/external/transceivers/IC-PCR1500_2500.pdf

It appears that there are two sockets in the IC-R2500/IC-PCR2500 chassis,

so that both the UT-118 D-Star and the UT-122 P25 module can be installed at the same time,

or the UT-108 DTMF module and the UT-122 P25 module can be installed at the same time,

But the UT-108 DTMF module and the UT-118 D-Star module can not both be installed at the same time.

Great post Mark!

I know the 2500 series has "dual-watch" ability, but do you know if you can have two separate scanning sessions at the same time?

Thanks,
Bill

Thanks for the post, Mark. I bought an R2500 from a Japanese source, and will be providing an out of the box report on it sometime in the next week or so. It will be nice to have P25 capability in a communcations receiver. Hopefully that board will be available sooner than later.

Unfortunately the above links to the manuals both render damaged files, or they do for me anyway, using Adobe Acrobat 6 Professional. I just got my R2500 today, and in my wildest dreams I can't translate Japanese! :)

I'll ASSume that I'll treat this like any other USB device and install the software first. This should be interesting....here we go!

Try downloading the new version of Adobe Acrobat (reader only), for FREE from http://www.download.com

It will probably work.

That's what I figured. I'll dump 6 and download the latest reader. All I'm using 6 for is reading stuff anyway and it's causing me trouble with Firefox when clicking on a .pdf link.

R2500 is in hand and all I can say is WOW. Remote head is nifty. Computer software is somewhat different than what I was used to with Icom's offering for the PCR1000....this is going to take some time, but I can tell it's already a winner.

Try "Right" clicking on many of the software buttons, it will give you other options/functions!
