I am a complete novice who recently got a used IC-R3. I only plan on using it as a scanner. Of course, it does a lot more, but I got it cheap, so I figured why not.

For the life of me, I can't figure out how to get it to do a programmed scan - where it scans frequencies between two programmed frequencies. I've read the user manual regarding this kind of operation so many times that I've practically got it memorized...but I can't seem to get it to do a programmed scan. For example, a scan of everything between the frequencies 200-225 MHz.

And for that matter - I can't seem to get the sub-LCD to ever show anything other than the wattage (usually displaying 3.0W or 3.5W).

Is not getting everything to display on the sub-LCD the problem?

I'm lost.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
