Hi I am using RX-7 software because there is no alternative. Software is very basic, but easy to use. It definately beats manual programming. Sometime ago I posted some screen shots to someone, you may have to check Icom receivers forum, otherwise I can posted again.
regards Chris

Yep, it is a good analog radio with good sensitivity.
Like: size and weight, menu layout, scanning speed, easy to use after programming, pocket friendly size
Like to have: backlit keypad, better audio, some sort of "close call"
I am using radio with different antennas, Watson 801, 889, 881, 901 for Air, Nagoya 771, Diamond RH789, in the car use Belkin FM transmitter and listen via car stereo
Good as a second scanner, I intend to sell it soon and get Uniden BC346XT (trunking and close call)

The RX7 is a great second receiver. It is not a R20. That being said it has some great properties. Its small, scans fast, has loads of options, great sensitivity and wide coverage. On the down side it has a large portion of the 800 MHz band blocked (parts of it being public service), no keypad back light, no USB/LSB, not the easiest thing to program on the fly.

Bottom line is it is a keeper!
