Ic-U82 Skipping Problem

I just purchased a Icom u-82. It receives radio traffic fine but when I transmit to other radios it just makes like a skipping noise. Static skip static skip. It does not stay constant for more then 1 second. So if you were talking you would only hear partial transmissions of the conversation.

Any help or advice would be helpful.

I have one, and it will sometimes do that when the battery is nearly dead.

I have two (one for my wife, and one for me). Neither has shown the problem you have experienced.

I've got the V82 (VHF version) and have never had that problem, hope you get it figured out.
