... either of these good for milair scanning? Ive seen mixed reviews for the 10.

I have the Icom IC-R5, and it is an excellent scanner for Military Air. I took it to a local air show last summer and it worked perfectly. The size makes it excellent to carry around in your pocket, and you can't beat the price. It's a little on the difficult side to program, but once you get used to the controls it is pretty easy.
The Icom R3 is just as difficult to program, and is up there in price because of the ability to watch TV and other security video signals. I have read it's pretty deaf in certain bands. No mention on how it receives Military Air. I would recommend staying away from this one.
The Icom R10 is much easier to program because of the "direct entry keypad", and has USB and LSB modes. I have read reviews on this scanner stating it is also excellent for Military Air. It's up there in price though.

I own the IC-R3. Don't buy it, is deaf at higher bands most notably 2.4 GHz where there are a lot of video signals. And is a pain to get used to because of the function key and press and hold this and that. I have no problem with Mil/air though. I should start comparing my radios to one another. :idea:
