• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi folks. I set up a zone for local NXDN frequencies and populated the channels. All I receive is the same distinct NXDN noise that we get on our scanners; the unit is not decoding the stream. Can anyone help me with what must be incorrect program settings, please? Thanks, all.

Do you have the channel set to mixed or digital in CS?

When you look at radio information tab in the CS does it show the digital option? I know you said the Radio was DT, but if it has an unknown history the option board could be missing.

I would assume it mutes encrypted traffic, but I don't know.

Are you sure traffic is NXDN and not DMR?

I know some of these are obvious, I mean no insults.

#1 Do you have the correct RAN programmed?
#2 Are any Talkgroups used?
#3 Is this a NXDN conventional or NXDN trunking system?
Just having a NXDN capable radio does not work like a scanner you have to have the correct hardware and programming information for the system you want to use.
I also see your county only has listed a NXDN 9600 Trunking system and a NXDN 4800 Trunking system a few P25 Trunking systems and 2 Motorola TRBO Trunking systems.

Luckygecko and Buddrousa, thanks for helping me out.

It's the 4161DT model. I have the frequencies programmed in as digital. Each should be a conventional and not trucked but I suppose some of them may be. Even if they are trucked, couldn't I get whatever transmission comes over the programmed frequency even if I couldn't follow the conversation?

I programmed zero for all RANs since I learned that zero should allow all signals to pass through. No idea how to determine the RANs if I need them.

Thanks again!
