Icom: IC746 vs FT2980R opinion

Hi All

I am on the fence.

I use an IC746 Non-Pro for just 2m only, no HF work on this one, have a dedicated HF unit for that.

Was thinking that replacing with a smaller Yeasu FT2980R.

Other than the slight rated power output disadvantage compared to the IC746, what would be the advantage/disadvantage of selling the IC746 and buying a new FT2980R for only 2M in hamshack use only.

Other than a burnt out backlight on the IC746, everything else on the unit is perfectly functioning.

Advantage??? There is absolutely no advantage to the FT-2980R except for the size.

The IC-746 is all-mode, and will cover SSB, FM, you can do FT8, etc., while the Yaesu is FM only.

The IC 746 sucks on 2 meter IMO even if it is 100 Watts the receive is awful
